General Description
( 5 items )
MED- ISOLAE delivers ISO: 9001 procedures, the structure of an island SDI (Spatial Database Infrastructure), a pilot and a series of dissemination sessions assisting Mediterranean islands to implementing their step-by-step ISO based sustainable management plans for the islands development and environment sectors in the period 2006-2016. Promoting a sounder & more sustainable evolution (environmental, social, economic & administrative) for Med- Islands is of paramount importance to the EU. The planning and maintenance of sustainability is not an easy task, and there are no true methodologies on how to achieve sustainability and its related indicators for the sustainability pillars, themes, sub-themes and parameters. The state-of-approach is to keep the indicators related to the sustainability matrix in balance via standardized procedures and methods, aiming at safeguarding the balance. Such procedures must have standardized ISO based rationale. In addition, any ISO implementation has to be supported by data and a spatial data infrastructure.
